part of Delta Capital, Inc. investment group, has signed an agreement with Ciotola s.r.l, Padua, (Italy), establishing a joint venture,
operating the Security Paper Mill in Steti (Czech Republic). The company will be managed by CEO Dr. Alfonso Ciotola, a paper industry professional who has held top management positions in the International Speciality & Security Paper Industry over the past 40 years.

SPM – Security Paper Mill began supplying the Ministry of Transport with licence plates in April 2017. They are produced by SPM in Štětí under strict security conditions. Thanks to a decrease in price from 77 CZK to 45 CZK per licence plate, the state has saved 36.5 million CZK. By the end of 2017, 1,157,734 licence plates had been delivered, with SPM recording a 227.6 million CZK turnover for the same year, representing 20% year-on-year growth.

Jaroslav Štefek, former chairman of the board of directors at PTC Praha and the current director of Tiskárna Hradištko printing works, is the new director of SPM. He will manage the two companies simultaneously.

In the long - awaited and monitored Ministry of Transport tender for the supply of license plates, SPM - Security Paper Mill offered the lowest bid price. It was nearly by 10% lower than those of other tender participants. Within the public procurement, the Ministry of Transport required a maximum price of CZK 36.5 million for 527,725 pieces of LP per 6 months. The contract is expected to last for four (4) years.
The average price of a plate is CZK 45, compared to the current CZK 77 apiece. Thus the government can save more than 120 million in the four years of the contract duration.
The new LP will have all the security features required by the contracting authority. SPM - Security Paper Mill together with SPM Systems also develops new types of LPs that should be able to communicate with other devices, e. g., to check the car owner by the police, parking systems, etc. Thanks to this, boundaries will be redefined for the registration of cars or other valuable goods and their protection against illegal practices.

The conference was covering topics such as: ID Document Protection, Passports, ID programs, Regional Developments in Secure Documents, Banknotes, ID & Secure Documents, etc. There was a record number of representatives making up together 120 organizations and 35 countries that gave space to a global view of the indicators about new innovations in printing capabilities and high security technologies.

They include currency, fiduciary documents, tax stamps, ID cards, e-passports, visas, vehicle documents and licenses, with a particular emphasis on banknotes and the emerging technologies for ID and travel documents. Speakers are specialists in their field providing technical presentations, include some regional case studies. Running in tandem with the event the trade exhibition will be held at the same location, in which more than 40 exhibitors dealing with currency, e-passport, smart card, authentication and related industries will take part.

SPM - Security Paper Mill, Inc. 22 - 24. 9. 2015 attended The sixth International Scientific and Practical Conference on Security Printing ‘Watermark Conference 2015’ in Russia’s Sochi. It is the only security printing conference held on the territory of Russia every two years, in different cities of Russia. This year Watermark Conference was held on the Black Sea coast. The conference brought new innovative ideas into the world of security papers, covering topics such as: the potential for development in the monetary sector, trends in printing solutions of security papers, ID-documents, etc. A special session was dedicated to modern and sophisticated methods of protection and innovative technologies of postage stamps in the EU. Its participation in the conference enriched, beside professional manufacturers of security papers, also specialists from national and central banks, including representatives from the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Interior and Finance, the Federal Migration Service, etc.

Due to the increasing demand, continuous product development, and growth of our company we have widened our technology portfolio and purchased new SECUR 20⁺ machine. This technology enables the application of holographic foil on various surfaces, and expands a portfolio of security features in the security paper manufacturing. The application is known for valuables such as banknotes, identity documents, tickets, lottery tickets, pharmaceutical, food and clothing packaging or various labels.

In June 2015, SPM - Security Paper Mill, Inc. presented their innovations in the field of securing elements for security papers in Security Document World congress in London. This event focused on the presentation of global innovations, particularly in the most advanced security solutions to the next generation of security documents. More than 100 exhibitors presented their offer in solutions for security documents for visitors around the world. SPM - Security Paper Mill, Inc. will also take part in this congress next year, which will be held from 10th to 12th May, 2016.

In April 2015, SPM - Security Paper Mill, Inc. participated actively in the Security Printers Conference in Copenhagen, organized by security printer association Intergraf. During this conference, we met with a number of experts and representatives of companies, focusing on products and services to customers in the field of security against counterfeiting prints. The conference was also attended by representatives of state institutions and police forces, dealing with the protection of state documents. A great benefit of the conference were presentations of current trends and innovative methods in the fight against counterfeiting.
